I have been making money blogging for approximately a year, and I have been very happy with the many different income streams that I have been able to create. My methods include setting up Wordpress blogs that are centered around a particular theme or niche. I use one niche for each blog. I begin by researching general keywords, and gradually narrowing down the scope and adding lots of long tail keyword rich posts. Long tail keywords usually have fewer searches, and less competition making them ideal for driving targeted traffic. I think of each blog that I create as individual trees with branches, and leaves.

My branches extend out to Web 2.0 properties like Squidoos, free blogs, Hubpages, and Wetpaint sites. The leaves on the branches turn out to the original articles that I link back to my Web 2.0 properties and my original blog. I enjoy article marketing, and it is the perfect marketing tool. I have found this form of marketing to be both convenient and free.

There was a time when I hand coded my websites with HTML, and tried optimizing for this or that keyword. They were always dismal failures, and I made perhaps $15 a year. Many internet marketers underestimate the power of blogs as marketing tools. They can be optimized easily, updated with fresh content regularly, and search engines love them. I now proudly make a living online, and I can credit a lot of my earnings to blogs.

Blogs allow you to use your creative talents. Many of the most popular blogs are those that have a unique personality created by the publisher. Humor, a unique perspective on every day life events, and interesting reviews of products and services are often very popular forms of blogging.

Blogging is a social activity because everyday new people can discover your blog, and relate to your posts. Blog about your hobbies, your life, your lessons, and consider using your blog as a marketing tool. Recommend, be humorous, and make a blog your own.
